Tennis Balls and New Pals: A Week in the Life of Marley and Dax

Tennis Balls and New Pals: A Week in the Life of Marley and Dax

Marley & Dax’s Weekly Adventures

Hi, I’m Marley, and this is my new blog co-writer(for the week), Dax! He’s still getting the hang of things, but I’m sure he’ll do just fine. I’ll let him share what we’ve been up to this weekend since he’s been here—but more on that later.

This week, I spent the afternoon with Hank and Mary. Hank decided he wants to get a "Frank," which we’ve learned is his word for a Golden Retriever—also happens to be my dad’s name! We all went to the library to check out books on how to train a Frank (aka a Golden Retriever). After that, we went to see Ruby and Mitzi while Hank and Mary played on the swing set. Mom told Hank that he’d have to babysit me a lot before his mom would let him get his own dog.

Mom left me again on Thursday while she went to Omaha. She said she had to go walk through the houses that Hadley Homes is building. Did you know one of the houses they’re working on was damaged in the May tornadoes? They’ve had to get creative with redesigning the floor plan on top of an existing foundation—sounds like a big project! She also went with her friend Marci to meet with the Sarpy County Food Pantry. They’re hoping to team up and help prep their new location, and they really need a lot of help. If you have the resources to help, Mom says to give her a call!

Now, I’ll let Dax take over and tell you what we've been up to since he got here. Take it away, Dax!

Okay, okay, Marley, here I go... but I just want you to know, I’m no writer like you. I’ve been listening to you read your blogs at night, and you’re really good at it. Don’t let that go to your head though, okay?

I’ve only been here a few days, but let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. First, I jumped into the car, and this other dog (you, Marley, apparently) wouldn’t stop barking at me. So, I did what any smart dog would do: I sat on you. It worked. You stopped barking. Not that I want to be rude, but you were kind of loud.

Well, once we got to this lady’s house, I realized that my mom wasn’t coming back for a few days. So I guess I’ll have to put up with this lady and her dog for a bit. Not too bad though. They like to play outside, and I like that too. We've been running around a lot, which is great.

Now, let me tell you about Friday—this lady gets so much done in a single day! First, she met with a local lender. I don’t know what that means, but I think it’s something about helping people get houses? Then, she had a meeting with The 1867 Collective agents from out in North Platte. After that, she ran to let her friend test drive her old car. I think her friend wants to buy it, but I’m just here for the tennis balls. Then, she talked to her attorney about some land deal, negotiated repairs for another house, and showed a house to someone, who really loved it!! After that, she met her Aunt Barb at the phone store to fix her phone. I’m exhausted just telling you about it.

On Saturday, this lady left us home to “guard” the house while she went out showing homes. But instead of guarding, we did what any self-respecting dogs would do—we pulled every toy out of the toy box and scattered them all over the house. Oops! She was definitely surprised when she came home to find the place looking like a toy store exploded. The fun didn’t stop there—while we were outside playing, the other agent called her to say the buyers had made an offer and it got accepted! That’s the first house I’ve helped sell, and it was so exciting!

And on Sunday, we got another chance to "guard" the house while she went to church. This time, she bribed us to be good with hours of tennis ball chasing! We don’t usually get 60-degree days in February, so that was a nice treat.

All in all, it’s been a fun weekend, but honestly, I’m ready to go home to my mom today.

Back to me, Marley:

Mom says we have a busy week ahead, but she’s not too busy to help you if you need to buy or sell a house! We would be happy to help, because I am the best assistant.

Paw-lease don’t forget to give your pups some extra snuggles today. Whether we’re chasing tennis balls or lounging in the sun, we’re here to make sure every moment is filled with joy and love. Until next time, keep your tails wagging and your hearts full!
