Once upon a time, I was the happiest golden retriever, living my best life with my mom. I love being her sidekick, helping her run her business (okay, fine, I nap under her desk while she works). Usually, Mom’s schedule is a mix of appointments and phone calls, with some extra time for walks, belly rubs, and tennis ball chasing.
Every day, I tag along wherever Mom goes—whether it’s meeting clients, showing houses, or sneaking in a Starbucks stop for a Pup Cup. But last week… oh boy, last week was different.
Until one day last week. Mom had appointments from 8 AM to 8 PM every single day. I couldn’t believe how busy she was! Thursday was the craziest day of all—she went to Omaha to walk through all the houses being built for Hadley Homes clients. While I stayed behind to manage the house (you know, barking at the mailman and keeping the couch warm), Mom was out meeting with the builder and documenting the build progress on each house.
Because of that, I started thinking about Hadley Homes and how it all began. Mom told me the story once, and it’s one of my favorites! When Chad, the owner of Hadley Homes, first started his business, he had already been in the building industry for over 20 years. A mutual friend introduced Mom to Chad, and during their first meeting, Chad shared his concerns about finding someone who could work as hard as he does on his projects. Mom left that meeting unsure if she’d get the job, but she did—and they’ve been working together ever since!
Because of that, Mom has become a big part of Hadley Homes. She helps Chad with everything from social media and the website to open houses and listings for available lots and future home builds. She walks with Chad and his clients through their dream homes as they’re being built, documents the progress, and communicates with everyone—clients, lenders, title companies, and developers—to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Until finally, Mom came home Thursday night and told me all about the incredible houses they’re building in Elkhorn. Chad is married to Kelli, who has an amazing eye for design and finishing touches that make each house truly special. Together, they create homes that families will love for years to come.
Kelli and Chad have two girls, Hallie and Addyson, plus four (sometimes five!) lucky dogs who get to run around their beautiful land and keep an eye on the chickens. It’s like a dog’s dream come true! Sometimes, Mom and I feel like we’re adopted members of the Gleckler family—it’s such a joy to be part of their journey.
And ever since that day, I’ve realized how lucky I am to be part of a family that helps other families find or build their dream homes. If anyone needs a house built in Eastern Nebraska or Western Iowa, I know Mom and Chad, and Kelli would be the perfect team to help!
Now that Mom’s busiest week ever is behind her, I think I deserve some extra tennis ball time. Don’t you agree?
Wags and slobbery kisses,
